Lolla Day 1

August 6th, 2011 by Giselle

Friday Lollapalooza popped off a little late in my world; that’s what happens when you have a final exam to polish off in the morning, hmph. Hitting up the press area by late afternoon, Pete Wentz was already busy doing multiple interviews and the tent was buzzing with the likes of MTV, FUSE, RIAA, VH1, Time Out and of course, your Imaginary Frend.

Friday Lollapalooza also ended late so I am making this short-and-sweet (and visual); the post-show Belvedere party went down at the W City Chicago, complete with a step-and-repeat, some gifting suites, a run-in with Imaginary Frend former intern Jamie Delaney (!), open bars (so thankful for free coconut water—and Belve) and a performance by Two Door Cinema Club. Could have stayed, but probably better we left when it was still going. Sometimes the music needs to stop for a minute.

Don’t just take my word for all the awesomeness that defined Lollapalooza Day 1 when you have these pretty photos to picture it. All except the above shot (which I took @ Girl Talk, eww that photo pit is gnarly people!) are the lovely work of photographer Christina M. Felice; you can see more of her stuff at felicephotography.com. In the meantime, here we go,

Starting off in the press tent (hands in lap, legs crossed, mm so ladylike):

Heading over to Crystal Castles. What up Chicago skyline:

The crowd at Crystal Castles:

Alice Glass greeting her people:

Ethan doing his thing. The Cobrasnake, aka Mark Hunter, was one of the fans side stage w/Christina:

Crowd gathering in the Perry’s Stage dance tent for Girl Talk (he killed it):

Get up!:

Girl Talk was the sh!t, as evidenced by these kids; those invited on stage were given an Ace of Spades card randomly throughout the day at the festival. Homie on the left there had a motor-powered toilet paper dispenser (leaf blower + paint roller) that TP’d the crowd. I danced w/Christina on the side stage the whole set:

Girl Talk ordered 400 (!) pizzas for his fans, I kid you not. My night ended donning a Girl Talk Pizza Delivery t-shirt and passing out pieces to the crowd—I was very popular at this moment and it was really fun to see people so excited about getting a surprise slice of free pizza that it got me cheesin’ too, as you can see in this photo:

Soon we’re off to do-up Day 2 and for me, I gotta admit, it’s all about Slim Shady…stay posted
